The information in the ECdB is an approximation of the energy costs of certain appliances, and is not guaranteed to be accurate.
How to Use the Program
To open the database, you must have a Macintosh that is capable of running ClarisWorks 3. If ClarisWorks 3 is loaded onto your hard disk, then double-clicking the document “ECdB” will open the database.
You can scroll thorugh the information as entered. There are 47 records, which cover most of the appliances and devices you’ll be interested in.
Only two fields can be edited -- the appliance field and the wattage field. The other fields are calculated, and depend on the value entered into wattage.
To add a new record to the database, select New Record from the menu. Then type in the name of the appliance (“Black Box”), and type in the rated wattage of the appliance (“300”). The other fields are recalculated after you use the Enter key.
Besides the Presentation view, which is the view that opens first, you can switch to either “Tabular 1-hour” or “Tabular 8-hour”. I recommend either of these reports if you want to print a hard copy of the database.
